About Us

Welcome to Hot Hands Pie & Biscuit — a Saint Paul neighborhood spot dedicated to bringing you comfort food with a refined twist. At the heart of our kitchen is founder Tara Coleman, an Illinois-born pastry chef whose expertise blends classic American baking with a touch of French-inspired finesse.

Tara’s journey began in 2012 at the prestigious Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, where she refined her pastry skills amid the world’s most discerning palates. She trained in celebrated kitchens such as Stephanie Izard's Girl and the Goat, and Chicago's favorite French Steakhouse, Boeufhaus — experiences that helped shape her exacting standards and signature style.

When Tara set out to create Hot Hands, her vision was simple: serve up honest, nostalgic desserts and buttery biscuits in a warm, welcoming space. Before opening our doors in 2019, she built a loyal following at local farmers markets, where her pies quickly became the talk of the town. Today, we’re proud to continue that tradition in Saint Paul, offering hearty comfort foods and classic treats enhanced with creative flavors you won’t find anywhere else. From our flaky, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits to no-frills pies made with only the best ingredients, we strive to make every visit feel like coming home.

But it’s not just about the food—it’s about creating a place where neighbors become friends and community is always at the forefront. When you dine with us, you’re supporting a dedicated team that believes in uplifting one another and sharing the joy of a well-made pastry. So drop by, grab a seat, and treat yourself to something delicious. After all, life is always a little sweeter with Hot Hands Pie & Biscuit. And remember: eat more pie!
